Gillette Vaulters Get it going in Nebraska

Gillette Pole Vaulters Steve Turpin and Paula Andrie continue to dominate half way through the 2010 indoor season. Turpin who’s new PR of 15-6 (#11 US) ranks him 11th (tie) in the country. Andrie raised her PR to 11-9 (#16 US) closing the gap with Cody’s Anna Bales who is sidelined with a stress fracture. Andrie is also the state leader in the Long Jump 18-0.5 (#22 US), Triple Jump 35-7, and 55 Hurdles in 8.78. Turpin is also the state leader I the 55 hurdles 7.93.

With only two weeks until Simplot things are really heating up.

Bales - Williams -- Creep Up US Rankings

Cody Pole Vaulter Anna Bales raised her PR and State best ever indoor vault to 12”1/2” (#5 US) but was pushed heavily by Paula Andrie who cleared 11-6 for a PR and narrowly missed 12’1/2 this past week at the Stadium Sports Grill Invitational In Spearfish SD. Andrie also excelled in the hurdles (2^nd 9.76) and triple jump (1^st 35-7).

Kody Williams of Sheridan remained perfect for the year with victories in the 55m in a time of 6.64, the 200m in 23.72 and the long jump at 23-4 (#8 US).Turpin remained undefeated for the season in both the 55 hurdles and the Pole Vault with marks of 7.93 and 14’ respectively.

2^nd and 3^rd in the Pole Vault went to Cody Sophomore Quinn Rivera and Bronc Freshman Leighton Blanchard with lifetime best jumps of 14’ and 12’6”.

Sheridan’s distance crew continued its early domination easily winning both 3200 meters with Dylan Morin winning in a time of 9:56and Wyoming’s 2010 Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year Dana Morin winning easily in 11:16.

In the Shot Put Natrona’s Ballie Gibson Dominated with a put of 40-8.75 (#15 US). Lovell’s Tyler Anderson continued his successful 2010 campaign winning in 53-06

Cody’s 4x400 team gained the state lead for the first time this year edging out Cheyenne Central in a time of 3:40.50

Cody's Alex Gwinn and Anna Bales Vault to US #12 Rankings

Cody's Alex Gwynn improved his all time PR to to 15 3 1/2 to achieve a #12US Ranking.Fellow Sr. from Campbell Countie Steve Turpin Vaulted 15in Cheyenne for the second straight week solidifying his 15 foot statues The Camel and Bronc vaulters will meet for the first time this year on January 29 in Spearfish SD at the Stadium Sports Grill Invitational. Anna Bales also from Cody equaled Gwynn’s #12 US ranking with a vault of 11-7 (season best).
